Villa Fleurie - Location

The house is located in a nice residential area surrounding the little village of Trans en Provence. The property is situated slightly up in the hill west of the town, 600 meters from the village center.

Trans en Provence

The center of Trans is a typical French village that consists of old concrete houses. The town is built around an old mill and has two bread shops, two vegetable stores, a meat shop, a grocery store, a florist, a small market, a hairdresser, a pharmacy, two bars, four restaurants, and a take-away pizza place. In addition, there is a big shopping center at the outskirts of the town.

The surroundings

It is possible to walk or jog in most directions from the house. Around Trans there are several small vineyards that produce relatively high quality wine and welcome visitors. The landscape is typical of Provence, with olive groves, grapevines, lavender, poppies, and cypresses (pine trees).

Shopping center

Three kilometers from the house, towards Draguignan, there is large supermarket (Carrefour) and a shopping area with big shops of many kinds. The supermarket is actually huge, and has absolutely everything you might expect to find in such a place, including a McDonald’s.

Les Arcs

The medieval town of Les Arcs is situated about 5 kilometers away. It is a pleasant town with a downtown area somewhat bigger than that of Trans. Its variety of shops and restaurants is about the same.

The Mediterranean

It takes about 25 minutes to drive to St Maxime, a pleasant little town that has a beachfront promenade, a nice beach, a yacht harbor and two pedestrian streets teeming with typical tourist shops and dining places. From St. Maxime, a boat regularly crosses the bay to the idyllic St. Tropez. During the summer, the boat leaves every 15 minutes; during spring and fall somewhat less frequently.

All coastal towns along the French Riviera are less than an hour’s drive away.

The best alternative to the beach of St. Maxime is probably the beach west of Frejus. Both of the beaches mentioned here have fine sand, places to wine or dine, deck-chairs for rent, easy access, and parking spaces.
